About
Hello and welcome my name is Annette O'Donovan and I am the founder of NewWay Counselling and Psychotherapy Services. As the name suggests this service offers you an opportunity to experience your worries and personal issues in a 'new way'. In a way that that will help you find a new direction and hope for the future.
I am a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I hold a Diploma in counselling and Psychotherapy with the Flatstone Institute Cork. I am a fully accredited member of IAHIP (the Irish Association for Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy) and work according to its code of ethics. This is a professional confidential service that provides a supportive healing space Where you can explore issues in your life that you would like to change.
We in NewWay understand that reaching out for help is a sign of courage and strength and have experience in dealing with a wide range of issues that may be causing you emotional distress. Sometimes people don’t seek professional help because of stigma and stereotypes, like that a belief its only for seriously ill people. Feeling worried, scared or embarrassed in deciding whether to seek professional help or not is is not at all uncommon. Its important to realise that we as counsellors are used to dealing with all sorts of issues and that no problem is too big or too small or odd to bring to counselling.
Its not always possible to ask friends or family for help. Having someone who is professionally trained and independent of people you know can be a relief and allows you the feeling of not being judged.
If you have tried making changes by yourself but keep getting stuck, Counselling and Psychotherapy will help you to find clarity, understand whats getting in your way or keeping you from living your life to the full. My therapeutic approach is Humanistic Integrative. within this therapeutic framework is very much a person centred approach to healing, where I listen to what you want and guide and support you on your journey towards those changes you wish to make.It doesn’t provide answers but helps you find your own. At the heart of the counselling and psychotherapy experience is the empathic, nuturing and trusting compassionate relationship that can be developed between you and your time with me as you journey.
